Realizing the importance of international cooperation in combating desertification, Vietnam ratified the United Nations Convention to Combat Desertification (UNCCD) in 1998 and, as a matter of fact, has implemented many programmes/projects of desertification control and has achieved encouraging success.

The Mekong Delta region has been badly hit by saltwater intrusion. Experts have warned that the region will have to suffer prolonged drought and saline intrusion during the rest of this year’s dry season.
We cannot eliminate natural disasters but we can seek measures to mitigate their damages, towards life protection and production development.
In 2018, traffic accidents nationwide declined by 2,048 cases and traffic-related deaths reduced by 154 year-on-year.
