The Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development has reported that Vietnam’s rice exports hit 708 million USD in the first two months of 2024, an increase of nearly 50% compared to the same period last year. The figures promise a positive outlook for rice exports during 2024 as a whole, especially those to major markets.

The Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development has set a target of Vietnam’s total coffee plantation area reaching 640,000 - 660,000 hectares by 2030, with exports expected to account for 80-85% of the country’s total production.

The Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development is aiming for Vietnam’s total rubber plantation area to reach some 800,000 - 850,000 ha by 2030, with 100% of rubber latex and wood to obtain planting area codes for product origin traceability.

The Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development has set a goal of the total pepper cultivation area nationwide standing at 80,000 - 100,000 ha by 2030, with a production target of 180,000 - 230,000 tonnes.

In the face of a host of difficulties and challenges, especially regarding export markets for forestry and fishery products, Vietnam’s agriculture sector is nonetheless estimated to have posted GDP growth of 3.83% - the highest figure in recent years.

According to the Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development, Vietnam earned over 3.25 billion USD from exporting fruit and vegetables in the first seven months of the year, representing a year-on-year increase of a significant 68.8%.

Agro-forestry-fishery exports stood at over 49 billion USD in the first 11 months of 2022, higher than last year’s record of 48.6 billion USD, the Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development said.

This is one of the goals set in the new strategy on agricultural and rural development in the period 2021 – 2030, vision 2050, approved by Decision 150/QĐ-TTg on 28th January.

The Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development sets a target of earning 50 – 51 billion USD in export value of agro-forestry and fishery products by 2025 and 60 – 62 billion USD by 2030.

Despite being affected by COVID-19 in 2020,all three areas of agriculture, forestry and fisheries; industry and construction; services still achieved higher growth rate compared to 2019.

During the first seven months of 2019, eight groups of agro-forestry-aquatic products posted export turnover of over one billion USD, making up 75% of total export turnover of the sector.
