Vietnam and China are neighboring countries with many similarities in culture, political systems, and development paths. Recently, with the joint efforts of both sides, the relationship between the two parties and the two countries has maintained a very positive momentum of development, achieving significant accomplishments in all areas.

Party General Secretary and President To Lam and his Chinese counterpart Xi Jinping witnessed the signing of 14 cooperation documents between ministries, agencies and localities of the two countries on August 19 as part of the Vietnamese top leader’s state visit to China.

General Secretary of the Communist Party of Vietnam Central Committee and State President To Lam and his spouse are paying a state visit to China. The visit from August 18 – 20 is made at the invitation of General Secretary of the Communist Party of China Central Committee and President of China Xi Jinping.

Economic, trade, and investment cooperation between Vietnam and China has continuously deepened and become a highlight in their bilateral relations in recent times. China is Vietnam’s largest trading partner and its second-largest export market. Meanwhile, Vietnam is China's largest trading partner within the Association of Southeast Asian Nations (ASEAN) and its fifth-largest trading partner globally, following the US, Japan, Republic of Korea and Russia.

Chairman of the National Assembly Vuong Dinh Hue will lead a high-ranking delegation to pay an official visit to China from April 7-12 at the invitation of Chairman of the Standing Committee of the National People's Congress (NPC) of China Zhao Leji.

Following the recent announcement of Vietnam and Australia upgrading their diplomatic relations to a Comprehensive Strategic Partnership on March 7, Vietnam now boasts such partnership with a total of seven countries.

Vietnam ranked second in the world, just after China, in footwear exports, with 1.5 billion pairs shipped overseas and a presence in 150 markets in 2022. Footwear exports last year brought in over 20.2 billion USD, marking the 26th consecutive year, since 1998, that footwear exports have been in the billion-dollar category.

The visit on December 12-13 is made at the invitation of General Secretary of the Communist Party of Vietnam Central Committee Nguyen Phu Trong and his spouse, and President Vo Van Thuong and his spouse.

President Vo Van Thuong leads a high-ranking Vietnamese delegation to attend the 3rd Belt and Road Forum for International Cooperation in Beijing, China, from October 17-20. His trip is made at the invitation of General Secretary of the Communist Party of China and President of China Xi Jinping.

With major efforts from both sides, the Vietnam-China comprehensive strategic cooperative partnership has continued to make important progress in all fields over recent years.

Vietnam and China have enjoyed sound cooperation since they established diplomatic relations on January 18, 1950.
