Vietnam officially joined the Ayeyawady - Chao Phraya - Mekong Economic Cooperation Strategy (ACMECS) at the first ACMECS Ministerial Meeting in Thailand in November 2004. As an active and responsible member, Vietnam has made and continues to make significant contributions to ACMECS.
