Hoi An ancient town in the central coastal province of Quang Nam was recognised as a UNESCO world cultural heritage site on December 4, 1999. Over the past 25 years, the local government and residents of Hoi An not only have preserved this living museum of architecture and urban lifestyle, but also effectively leveraged these values for sustainable preservation and development of the heritage.

With its pristine and majestic natural landscapes, along with stunning cave systems, rivers, and streams, the central province of Quang Binh is rated as one of the 13 most beautiful destinations in the world by Travel+Leisure magazine.

Two additional cities in Vietnam have been designated recently as UNESCO Creative Cities - Da Lat in the Central Highlands’ province of Lam Dong in term of music and Hoi An ancient town in the central province of Quang Nam in crafts and folk art. Vietnam now has three cities in the UNESCO Creative Cities Network (UCCN).

Vietnam has 9 heritage sites recognised by UNESCO, including 5 cultural, 3 natural, and 1 complex heritage items.

The pottery craft of the Cham people has existed for a long period of time and been maintained by the Cham community in Bau Truc pottery village in Ninh Phuoc district, Ninh Thuan province, and in Binh Duc pottery village in Bac Binh district, Binh Thuan province.

CNN has listed the UNESCO World Heritage Site of Ha Long Bay among the 25 most gorgeous destinations on Earth, calling it “a place where time slows to a standstill”.
