The Paris Agreement on Ending the War and Restoring Peace in Vietnam was signed on January 27, 1973 by the Democratic Republic of Vietnam, the National Front for the Liberation of South Vietnam, the Republic of Vietnam, and the US, after 201 open sessions, 45 high-level private talks, 24 secret meetings, 500 press conferences, 1,000 interviews and hundreds of get-togethers in support of Vietnam.
Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh pays an official visit to Laos from January 11-12 at the invitation of his Lao counterpart Sonexay Siphandon. The visit affirms Vietnam’s consistent policy of treasuring and prioritising the great friendship, special solidarity and comprehensive partnership between the two nations.
On Sept. 15, 1945, the Việt Nam Thông Tấn Xã (now Thông Tấn Xã Việt Nam or Vietnam News Agency) officially broadcast to the world the Declaration of Independence and the list of members of the Provisional Government of the Democratic Republic of Vietnam in Vietnamese, French, and English. Sept. 15 then became the traditional day of the Vietnam News Agency.
